Merlene Mault Rees

Obituary
Merlene Mault Rees had a joyous reunion with her family and friends in heaven when she passed away on December 14, 2018 at the age of 85.

She wasn’t one to sit still. She always had something to do. She loved the relationships she made while she was working at the bank, selling and delivering Avon, and making food samples at the grocery store. The real joy in her life was her family and friends. And babies! She wanted all the babies. If you were ever at her house, you would always leave fed and she would not let you leave without taking a plate to go. She loved having family over for Sunday dinners, and could often be found in the kitchen making her famous cookies, cheesecakes and brownies. If she wasn’t working or in the kitchen, she would be in her yard working on her garden or planting beautiful flowers. Working with her hands as hard as it might have been for her, brought her much joy.

Merlene was born in Salt Lake City on December 31, 1932. She graduated from West High School. Over the years, she has lived in New Jersey, California and finally settled back in Holladay, Utah. She was married to David Rudy Rees and had 4 children together before going separate ways. Her pride and joy are her 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is having a joyous reunion with her parents Merle Mault and Mary Elvina Neff Mault, brother in law Eugene Parry and numerous friends. She is survived by her siblings Jerre (Farrel) Dobson, Nancy Parry, Roy (Dorothy) Mault. Her children Craig (Renee) Rees, Scott (Tammie) Rees, Stacey Rees, and Jill (Andy) MaNamara. Her grandchildren Kimberlly, Jennifer, Emily, Nathan, Blake, Derek, Kylie, Jason, Tony, Brittany, Jordan, Zach, Misty and Summer. And her great grandchildren Brad, Hailey, Carson, Emerson Slaugh, Robert and Wendy Elmer, Helena Elmer, Mason Rees, Kora Rees, Liam Caldwell and Gavin Rees.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11AM in the Valley View 11th Ward, 1925 East Gunderson Lane, Holladay, Utah 84124. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:45 AM prior to services.

Interment is to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah 84106.
