Melissa Jane Collins Anderson, 40, passed away on February 22, 2021, after a hard battle with cancer, in her family home in Sandy, UT. She was born in Utah to Thomas and Susan Collins and was the 5th of 11 children. Melissa received her Bachelors in business from the University of Utah, later receiving her Masters degree from Washington State University. While in Washington, Melissa met and married her husband Joseph Anderson. Melissa, Joseph, and their two children made their home in Washington state.
Melissa loved spending time outdoors hiking, climbing and being in the sunshine. A talented designer and artist, she lived to make spaces beautiful. She was an exceptional mother, instilling in her children a knowledge of the gospel and all the joys this life has to offer. Melissa lived intentionally, focusing on the people around her and lighting up the room with her joy and positivity.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Anderson, her children Isabel Marie and Gideon Thomas, her parents, Thomas and Susan Collins, her siblings: Angela & Jon Knudsen, Jeron & Brook Collins, Becky & Judd Hamson, Alicia & Matt Hastings, Joshua & Annie Collins, Ashley & Jeffrey Lake, Kirsti Collins, Christian Collins, Drew Collins, and Hunter Collins, and many nieces, nephews and one great niece. She will be missed by many people.
A special thanks to the Yelm Relief Society and Ward for their Christ-like and unending ministering to Melissa and her family during her fight with cancer.
