Melinda Nielsen

Melinda Nielsen of Holladay, Utah—a beloved daughter, sister, and friend—passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. She was 70 years old.

Born on May 22, 1954, to Jean Adeline Burgon Nielsen and Calvin Robert Nielsen, Melinda's life was defined by her adventurous spirit and deep devotion to her family. She had a passion for traveling, making numerous journeys abroad to explore the world and experience its beauty.

Melinda dedicated many years of her life to public service, working as a county employee for Salt Lake County. Her later years were spent scheduling theater venues in Salt Lake City, where she became a trusted and valued member of the community. After retiring, she devoted herself to caring for her mother and stepfather during their declining years, showing incredible compassion and love. Her family is deeply grateful for the friendship, care, and support offered by Carol Liessi, who was an invaluable help to both Jean and Melinda during this time.

Melinda is survived by her siblings, Gary (Marcia) Nielsen and Laurie (Glenn) Hill; her niece, Brooke (Jake) Boyce; her nephew, Chad (Elise) Nielsen; her grandnieces and grandnephews; and her dear friend, Del Alberico. She will be missed deeply by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Melinda's life will be held at the Midvale Cemetery, 450 West 7500 South at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
