Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother Maxine (Garrett) Crellin age 83 of Sandy, Utah passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2022.
Maxine was born on September 26th, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents, Rex & Edith Garrett and was the second oldest of five daughters, she grew up in Copperton and attended the old Bingham High School where she met and married her husband of 58 years along with many lifetime friends that she has spoke fondly of and stayed in contact with over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Crellin, her parents, Edith & Rex Garrett, her three sisters, Dorothy (Garrett) Oldham, Linda (Garrett) Bills, Marjorie (Garrett) Withers and an older brother, Grant Garrett who had died as a baby before the girls were born.
Maxine will be deeply missed and is survived by her one sister, Joann (Garrett) Davis, her three sons, Steven Crellin, Michael Crellin & Jefferey Crellin, her three daughter in laws, Margie, Debbie & Wendy, her five grandchildren, Jason, Kristine, Nathan, Katelynn & Mitchell along with her thirteen great grandchildren, Tab, Benton, Hobbes, Paisley, Adelaide, Holland, Carter, Zoey, Elly, Delilah, Remi, Owen & Faye along with many close friends and neighbors who helped take wonderful care of her and kept her going the last couple years.
While she held many jobs throughout her lifetime, she was most proud to have graduated through the rigorous police academy training at the age of 48 and of her many years of service as an officer for the State of Utah right up until her retirement from the force.
Maxine enjoyed traveling to see her kids and grandkids, lunches and chats with her friends and neighbors, golfing and gardening. She took great pride and found joy in the immaculate care of her house and yard on most days before finally settling down for a few hours in the evenings to a favorite crime drama or police show before bed.
Funeral services will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held 1 hour prior.
