Maureen May Cumming Nelson, died Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the age of 85. She was born September 1, 1933 in Bremerton, Washington to Kenneth and Norma Mae Cumming. As a child she enjoyed spending summers in Idaho with her Grandma. She graduated from Palo Alto High School. Maureen married her sweetheart JR Nelson in March of 1963 in the Los Angeles Temple. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She supported all her children in their many activities including sports, band, choir and scouting. She was active in the community and served as the PTA president, Primary president, attended many years of LDS girls camp, volunteered in her church and sold candy at the kids sporting events.
It is common belief among her children that Maureen never slept. She was well known throughout her community as an excellent baker of pies, cookies and breads. As an empty nester she and her husband enjoyed spending time with friends having dinners, playing games and traveling. Maureen and JR loved babysitting and spending time with their grandchildren.
Maureen is survived by her brother Leland, husband JR and children Sean (Julie), Aaron, Eric (Ashlie), Rebecca (Kelly) and David (Kenna). She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 1 great grand daughter.
There will be an open house in her honor on Saturday, December 8th at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street from 10:30 to noon. She will be buried at the Heber City Cemetery.
