Matthew Kenneth Lewis

Midvale-Matt passed away March 15 at IMC in Murray Utah due to complications from medical conditions. He was born May 1, 1972 in Salt Lake City Utah to Glenn and Carol Lewis. He has resided in Midvale and Sandy.

Matt married Tracie Winterer and was later divorced. Matt is survived by his sons Christian and Mason Lewis, his parents, siblings Loralee, Brian and Natalie (Ben) Wright, plus nieces and nephews.

Matt is remembered by many as a kind, gentle, and good man. He was known to be nonjudgmental and not happy with those who were judgmental.

He enjoyed spending time with his boys and camping in their family trailer. He was fond of getting together on a regular and continuing basis with his friends and their families for cookouts, playing games and watching sporting events.

Matt also liked to travel when he could with his family early in life and later with his friend Mike. He also enjoyed his association with his friend Terri and appreciated her gift to him of flying in a small airplane where the pilot let him take over, which satisfied a long-time desire on Matt's part. The pilot confirmed that he was a "natural" at the controls which pleased Matt.

Matt took every opportunity to visit the Kamas Valley which began with visits at an early age to his grandparents home there and continued into adulthood. After riding on his grandfather's pet donkey as a small child and then later visiting his other grandparents, he wisely observed and was quick to explain that "you don't have no donkey!"

He also loved his pet dogs, which is the mark of a good man. He will be missed, but he has both sets of grandparents beyond the veil to greet him, help him and enjoy him.

He did not want to leave mortality and his two young boys. One of the last things he did in this life was to encourage them to do their best and bring honor to them and their families here.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21 at the Midvale East 2-6 Ward building, 7250 South 300 East, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may visit Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State, Midvale or from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service on Thursday.

Interment, Marion Utah Cemetery, North of Kamas on State Road 32, then East on 2700 North.
