Mary Jane Pavich

Mary, our special daughter, sister, wife, aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews, passed away Dec. 7, 2020 at her home at the age of 95, due to natural causes. Born to Clair H. Coates and Laura Jane Metcalf Coates on July 23, 1925. She was born at Skunk Ranch in Gunnison, Utah. She was the first of 10 children. She learned to work at an early age. She worked side-by-side with her dad, brothers, and sisters. She married John Pavich on April 30, 1966 in Elko, NV. He preceded her in death.

She lived a fairy-tale life. She had the best husband anyone could ask for; she never had health problems. Everything was good. They bowled, golfed, fished, played the dingers, everything was great!

Mary worked at the parachute plant in Manti during World War II, saved her money, moved to Salt Lake, went to LDS Business College, graduated. Her first job was at ZCMI. She only worked there a few months, then she went to John Deere Company. She worked there for years until they moved their office to Portland, OR. They wanted her to relocate, but she said she couldn't leave her mother! Then she worked for Brown's Distributing as Credit Manager until she retired.

She is survived by sister Clara Coates, sister-in-law Marge Coates (Guy-deceased), and Saundra Coates (Clyde-deceased), and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Preceded in death by parents, Clair and Laura Coates, brothers Cleve, Boyd, Clyde and Guy, sisters Nola Aston, Zada Gates, Laura Fay Coates, Wyoma Coates, sisters-in-law Geneal Coates and Wilma Coates, niece Denise Bossa, nephew Mikie Bossa, nephew Neal Coates.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 14 at 11:00 am at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, with a viewing from 9:30-10:45 am. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.

All in attendance are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
