Mary was born in Pueblo, Colorado on January 6, 1927 to Lenore Martin and Encarnacion Hernandez. She rejoined her husband Max Leger on the morning of March 15, 2017. Mom was the youngest of seven children and grew up in the Florence and Chandler, Colorado area.
As a young teen Mary lost her mother and relocated to Sunnyside, Utah to be near her sister and her three brothers who worked in the coal industry in that area. Mary attended and graduated from Carbon High School where she first met her husband Max whom she later married upon his return from the Navy after WWII.
She and Max spent their working lives in Sunnyside where they raised their family of three children. Mary was employed by Kaiser Steel as an administrative assistant and at Carbon Medical as the business manager. While at Carbon Medical, she was an integral part of the community, advising many residents on how to find specialized care for their families at larger hospitals in Northern Utah. Her kindness and charitable acts were the fabric and essence of who she was. Mary was a devout Catholic and a great example of faith to all who knew her. Upon retirement, Mom and Dad moved to the Salt Lake Valley to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed a 67-year marriage together until Dad's passing in 2014.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Max, her mother and father, three brothers and three sisters.
