Mary Fratto Arko passed away 10 days after her beloved husband, on January 9, 2015, at the age of 88.
Mary was born to Luigi and Luigina Martire Fratto on October 1, 1926, at the family ranch house in Corner Canyon, Utah. The family moved into Draper when the ranch home burned down. Mary helped earn a living for her family as her father passed away when she was in high school. Mary did sewing, washing, tending, housekeeping and working at the Co-op (IFA) to help her mom raise her 5 younger brothers. Mary is a graduate of Jordan High.
She married Stanley Albert Arko on November 15, 1949. They moved to Draper and later to White City, where they raised their 3 boys. Mary worked at the ribbon factory and the cookie factory in Draper and she worked many years for Jordan School District in Nutrition Services. Mary was a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Stan and Mary celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in November.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Lou (Charlene C.), Fred (Nola) and Allen (Charlene K.), 11 grandchildren (10 grandchildren-in-law) and 24 great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, Tony (Marge), sister-in-law Venice Fratto, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Alta Ridge Care Center and especially Ali from Millcreek Healthcare. Services will be on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Goff Mortuary.
