Martin Lee Gerber, known affectionately as Marty, was born July 14th, 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah. A sweet natured boy, he loved his family very much.
He enjoyed athletics and was on a little league team when he was a child. He joined the Boy Scouts when he was 12 and excelled, earning his Eagle Scout Award.
As a teen, he would go with a flock of friends and cousins and played skee ball at Lagoon, where he had high scores and won tons of tickets. He was great at roller skating, bowling, and swimming. He was on the swim team at Jordan High School where he earned his letter. He was in the Thespian Club and performed in school plays.
He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. A patriot, the American eagle was his favorite emblem. He loved animals, especially dogs, and trained them well. Marty was a machinist and a hard worker. A tall, muscular guy, he lifted weights and enjoyed working out.
Marty left us too soon, on September 30th, 2017.
He is survived by his daughter, Lacy Ann Bentley (Jon), his son, Martin Lee "Buck" Gerber, Jr., and Michael P. Carpenter (Sarah), his stepson that he raised as his own. He also left behind his mother, Marcia White, his stepfather, C.C. White, his sisters, Teresa and Elizabeth, and his grandchildren, Jonathan, Joseph-Matthew, Joshua, Austin, Hailey, and Nathaniel.
