Martha Lucille King

Martha Lucille King was born on December 20, 1922 in Castor, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 7, 2022, just five months before her 100th birthday. She is survived by her three children born to her and her first husband, Ritchie Belton Gooch whom she married on January 28, 1944: Christina Wardak, Ritchie Belton Gooch, Jr. and Lisa Ann Coombs. She has eleven grandchildren: Anna, Jennifer, Rebecca, David, Julie, Joy, Emily, Kelsey, Brady, Summer, and Zach.

Martha was beautiful and full of the love for life. She always had a smile and was known as “feisty” at the senior home where she was living when she died. She was the wife of an Air Force officer and had to move many times in her life and got to experience living in several different states. She always made it an adventure for her children and seemed to adjust and make friends easily. There are many memories of vacations where we all laughed and had fun together. She retired from the Seattle School District after working as a secretary for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, dancing, and was an avid golfer who even got a hole-in-one. She moved to Nephi in 2017 to be near her daughter and enjoyed keeping things lively at the assisted living center where she lived.

A private family graveside gathering will be held on Friday, July 15.
