Marlon Hardy Peterson

Our kind and gentle Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend passed away, Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with multiple health issues. He was 82 years old.

Marlon was born in Murray, Utah on October 7, 1939, along with his twin sister Margaret. He was the son of Jess and Louise Hardy Peterson.

He was raised in Sandy, Utah where he attended Sandy elementary and Junior High schools. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1957. After graduation, Marlon joined the Army because of his love of adventure. He attended basic training in California and Texas, then was stationed in Germany. He served for three years. He learned to love Germany so much, he stayed another three years after his service. When he returned home, he met and married Kaaren Davis. He and Kaaren were blessed with a beautiful daughter Jennifer Paige Peterson. Marlon and Kaaren later divorced.

During his life, he was employed by Memorial Gardens, Restaurant Supply and Williamsons Body and Equipment Co. He later met then married Hannelore Jonelite in November 1977. He loved her German accent and heritage.

Marlon and Hannelore later moved to Albuquerque, NM. They loved it and lived there for many years. While in Albuquerque, he was employed with GE and Hannelore with Intel. They thoroughly enjoyed the land of enchantment and the Native American culture. They sold their New Mexico home and returned to Sandy, Utah in 2008 where they lived the remainder of their lives. Hannelore passed away in May 2019.

Marlon had many interests including classical music and painting with watercolors. He had a large collection of various elephant figurines. He was also an avid reader and loved to study different religions. He enjoyed learning the Lord's Prayer in many different languages and even learned how to recite it in Chinese. He spent many hours indexing for the LDS church as well as researching genealogy and family history.

He is survived by his daughter Jennifer (James) Udseth, SLC, as well as two granddaughters, McKenzie and Cierra, twin sister Margaret (Alan) Glover, Bluffdale, sister, Dolores Anderson, Monroe, brother Gilbert (Nola) Peterson, Sandy. Also, many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Marlon and they will miss his funny, happy go lucky and sometimes sarcastic personality.
