Marlon Edward Kunz

Marlon Edward Kunz was born April 8, 1930 in Sandy, Utah to Ezra Louie Kunz and Vilda Dustin Kunz. He passed away January 29, 2024 at his home in Sandy, Utah where he lived for the past 73 years.  

He was the youngest of eight children and was always called Eddie.  He grew up in Sandy attending Sandy Elementary, four different junior high schools in Richland, Washington, Sunnyside, Washington, Hunter, Utah, and Sandy, Utah.  He graduated from Jordan High School in 1948.  He married Thelma Joy Sorensen on March 10, 1948.  They were blessed with four wonderful children.  Thelma died in November 1969.  He married Nadine Mash in 1979.

He learned to work hard at a young age delivering newpapers on his bicycle.  He worked at Kennecott Copper Mines and Farmer’s Insurance before starting a body and fender and used car business with his brother Loyal.  His longest and most fulfilling career was as a claims Adjuster with the C.W. Reese Company where he worked until he retired at age 62.   

He and his wife Nadine served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New Jersey Morristown mission from October 2001 to October 2003.

 He is preceded in death by parents, siblings, wife Thelma, daughter Claudia, son-in-law Jack, and three great grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife, Nadine, his son, Ronald Edward Kunz (Raelynne), his son-in-law Denny Kenyon, and his daughters Paula Calton and Kelly Runyon (Rick), 15 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.  

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 3, 2024, 1;00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 586 East 8400 South, Sandy, Utah.  Viewing will be held on February 2, 2024, Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Midvale, Utah between  6-8 pm and one hour prior to services.
