Marlene Elizabeth Cotton

Marlene passed away in the early morning hours of April 8, 2019 in Murray, Utah at the age of 77.

She was born on April 6, 1942 in Standardville, Utah to Elmer and Margaret Evans.

Marlene retired after 34 years working for Grand Central and Fred Meyers, now known as Smith's Marketplace. During those years she has had many positions in many stores making lifelong friendships. You could never visit a store without a co-worker or customer approaching to catch up on what was happening with each other's families and loved ones. Her happiness came from spending time with her family. As a child growing up fishing and hunting Huntington Canyon being one of her favorites with her dad. She never had any problems keeping up with the boys walking that mountain.

As time passed and the family had expanded in size now adding her children, siblings, nieces and nephews to the mix where great memories you would hear of often. Marlene worked hard and loved hard for her family with a strong belief that families are to love and support one another. She looked forward to holidays knowing it would be spent with her children and theirs together. Her favorite was Easter rather that be for her Birthday month or as we believe for the kids since she really went all out for them. Her favorite treasured memories are all of her Daughter, Son, Granddaughters and Great Grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank Intermountain Medical Center Emergency, Dr. Orme and the ICU Shock Trauma team, nurses, the many specialists involved in her case who worked tirelessly to provided Marlene the best possible care without missing a stone unturned. Thank you for taking care of the family as we moved in. Thank you for giving us one more birthday to celebrate and getting past those next few days.

Marlene is survived by her son Russell Evans (Ethel), brother Larry Evans (Corrine), sisters Liz Dotson, Cherie Collins, Mary Fratto (Allen), granddaughters Danielle Taylor (Brady), Mickelle Uriarte (Mark), 5 great-grandchildren, with additional twins arriving in August, her never forgotten son-in-law Jay Powell, her special friend and caretaker who never left her side Teresa Larsen, and her added granddaughter Jayde DelaCerna.

She is preceded in death by her precious daughter Tammy Smethurst, both parents, brothers-in-law Blaine Collins, Dave Wootton and Jim Dotson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13 at 12:30 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, with viewings Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery.
