Marjorie Evelyn Landeen

Marjorie Evelyn Toone Landeen passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 26, 2015.  She was born August 1, 1924 and recently celebrated her 91st birthday.  Marge was born in Salt Lake City, the oldest of eight children. She graduated from South High School and worked for Nelson Ricks Creamery and the Presiding Bishop's Office, recording tithing receipts for the church. Marge loved the theater and participated in many productions of the Salt Lake Theater Company.  During the war years she and her sister would often travel to Wendover to attend the USO dances.  Marge served a mission to the Eastern States and was able to participate in the Hill Cumorah Pageant.  After returning from her mission she attended Brigham Young University where she met and married her husband, Richard Landeen in the Salt Lake Temple.  They settled in Draper, Utah in 1957 where they raised eight children.  Having six sons, Marge spent many summer days at the ball park where she was head scorekeeper for several years.  She worked as a substitute teacher in the Jordan School District to provide income to send seven of her children on missions.  Besides her family, Marge's commitment was to her church responsibilities.  She served in many callings including Relief Society President on two separate occasions.  After retirement she and Dick served as ordinance workers in the Jordan River and Draper Temples.  During this time Marge and Dick also served missions to Finland and Sweden setting an example for her grandchildren to follow.  Her home was always filled with good music, good literature, good treats and a great spirit.  She is survived by her husband, Richard; eight children, Jeff (Brenda), Janette Johnson, Mark (Ellen), Scott (Diann), Steve (Arlynne), Mike (Paula), Todd (Andrea) and Alison; sisters, Wilma Walton, Eileen Toone, Noni Woods and Marilyn Gee; thirty four grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by two sisters, Miriam Toone, Kathleen Weiser and a brother, Millard Toone; son-in-law, Brad Johnson and grandson, Travis Landeen.  We are so pleased that she is with them now.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Draper Second Ward, 1617 E. 12700 S. Draper, Utah at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing at Goff Mortuary on Thursday, the 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m.  We wish to thank all those who have provided care and attention over the past several months. Burial at the Draper Cemetery.
