Maris Olson

Maris LeFevre Olson of Crescent, Utah passed away November 12, 2021. Maris was born to John and Valora LeFevre on November 13, 1938. She grew up on the family's small farm in Sandy, Utah. Maris loved her childhood and made many lifelong friends as she grew up and attended school in "Old Sandy".  She attended and graduated from Jordan High School where she had great fun being a "Beetdigger". Following graduation, Maris met Duane Olson of Crescent, Utah. The two fell in love and were married May 2, 1958. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Crescent where they made their home for 56 years and raised their family together. Maris and Duane had one daughter and 3 sons. A fourth son died at birth.

Maris was a people person and loved to serve others. She was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She served faithfully in many callings and especially loved serving the elderly residents at the Crossland and Cedarwood Assisted Living Centers as the Relief Society President. Maris and Duane served as missionaries in the Salt Lake Inner City Mission and many years as missionaries at the Conference Center.

Maris also found great joy working with the youth in the Crescent area as a 4H leader and Cub Scout Leader. While her children were in school, Maris worked as a secretary at Jordan High School. She loved the chance to be with and mentor multitudes of youth and teenagers.

Maris was gifted with many talents particularly in sewing, crochet, knitting, and most of all art. She was an accomplished artist and painted many pictures. Many of her pictures and art projects were sold throughout the community and the rest are prized and hanging in her families' homes. A crowning achievement was having a flag she made for Jordan High School taken by astronaut and Jordan High alumnus Don Lind on his space shuttle flight.

Maris is survived by her sons & their spouses: Rick & Kim, Troy & Trista, and George & Sandy Olson and her daughter & spouse: Connie & Lindsey McMullin. Nineteen grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren, brother-in-law Jay Olson & "adopted children" Steve & Janice Schroeder and their children & grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by Duane, grandson Cody, great grandson Gage, parents, siblings, and their spouses.
