Marilyn Sabey Wilson, 73, returned home to Heavenly Father on July 30, 2016, after a life devoted to her family. She was born on April 16, 1943 to Earl and Viola Madsen Sabey. She attended Jordan High School and Brigham Young University. She is survived by her children Heidee (Brett) Lindsey, Wendee (Donald) Matuck, Mikelle (Jeff) Maddox, and Matthew Wilson; her siblings Dianne (Wayne) Ross, and John (Bev) Sabey; her grandchildren Matthew, Daniel and Joshua Lindsey, Justin Waring, Julius and Beau Maddox, Mattison, Lauren and Carter Wilson; her great grandchildren Hailey, Emily, and Joshua Lindsey, Kyndall Waring; preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Donald Sabey.
She married Dee M. Wilson, in 1964, later divorced.
Marilyn enjoyed BYU football, puzzles, counted cross stitch, collecting bunnies and Santa Claus figures. She was a talented seamstress and taught all of her children how to sew. She spent many years as a 4-H leader teaching sewing and cooking. Her memory lives on in the talents she shared with so many.
Marilyn worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist at Cottonwood Hospital. At one point, she typed so fast, the typewriter could not keep up. The hospital had to get a better typewriter to keep up with her!
Marilyn had profound faith and was obedient in following our Savior Jesus Christ. She especially enjoyed the LDS Institute classes she took these last few years. She learned so much and was excited to share and testify of Jesus Christ and His gospel.
Marilyn especially loved her family and dedicated her life to all of them. As a single mom, she sacrificed very much so her children could take music lessons, play sports, and pursue their interests. She often had multiple jobs in order to support her family. She was a wonderful "Grammy." She found great joy in her relationships with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She planned fun holiday parties and epic Easter egg hunts. She worked hard to know all of her grandchildren, traveling to visit them as often as possible. Marilyn will be missed by many people whose lives she touched and we are comforted to know that she is at peace and reunited with loved ones.
Our family is very grateful to her wonderful neighbors and ward members who have served and watched over her for so many years.
Viewing will be held Monday, August 8, from 6-8 pm at Goff Mortuary, Midvale. Funeral services will be August 9, at 11:00, at the LDS Church, 2925 East Bengal Blvd, (7800 S), Cottonwood Heights, UT, with a viewing starting at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the Midvale Cemetery.
