Marilyn Stanley Humpherys

Marilyn Stanley Humpherys, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2023, just shy of her 87th birthday.

Marilyn was born on April 14, 1936, in Heber, Utah, to parents George Burton Stanley and Irene Marella Murdock. She grew up in a close-knit family alongside her eight siblings. Marilyn went on to study at Brigham Young University, where she earned her master’s degree in music.

Marilyn was a dedicated and passionate teacher. She was known for her wonderful voice, her kind heart, and her unwavering love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Tabernacle Choir, where she performed around the world; she often sang prestigious solos in a number of these performances. Marilyn also enjoyed being on stage, acting in plays and musicals.

Marilyn had a deep love for her family and friends. She married A. Glen Humpherys, on June 6, 1963. Together, they had three boys, who brought her immeasurable joy and happiness.

Marilyn was an active member of her community and church. She was a woman of deep faith, and she lived her life according to the principles of love, kindness, and service.

Marilyn's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Alan (Lorie), Kenneth (Chantel), and Grant (Heather), her ten grandchildren, one great-grandson, her brother Lynn Stanley, and many other loving family members and friends. Marilyn will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, and her enduring love for those around her. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched throughout her life.

A viewing will be held Monday morning only, at 10:00 a.m., followed immediately by a funeral service, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel on 87 East 7100 South, Midvale, UT, on April 3, 2023, at 11:00 am. Marilyn will be laid to rest at the Murray City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints’ Humanitarian Fund.
