Marilyn Corey

On January 30th, 2018 Marilyn Cram Corey passed away of natural causes at 91 years old, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 23, 1926 to Adella Linck Cram and Roy Riggs Cram, the oldest of five siblings and preceded in death by her brothers, Roland and Deryl Cram. She is survived by her two sisters, Lenae Benson of Salt Lake City, and Deanna Hanes of Las Vegas. At the outset of the Great Depression, her family moved to the town of Alamo, Nevada to ride out the nationwide economic hardship in a small self-sufficient community. In 1938 they moved to the fast-growing city of Las Vegas, Nevada where she attended Las Vegas High School. Here she met James Corey, businessman and future Las Vegas City Commissioner, marrying on July 4th, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1993. They had three children, daughters Janice Zitting and Sandra Miller, both of Salt Lake City, Utah and one son, Dr. John Corey of Scottsdale, Arizona. Marilyn and her life-long friends were "founding members" of the annual August migration of Las Vegans, swarming the San Diego shores for 50-plus years! She and the generations that followed truly loved this tradition each and every year. Marilyn worked in hotel Payroll and Human Resources until retirement and following the death of her husband, she relocated to Salt Lake City. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For the past 23 years, she has been surrounded and loved by her three children, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was our Matriarch and our family's single greatest treasure.

Services will be held Saturday, February 3rd at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East in Draper, Utah 84020 at 11:00 AM, preceded by a viewing at 10:00 AM and the interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
