Maren Atkinson

Maren Doty Atkinson, age 88, graduated from this life on Sunday morning, July 9, 2017, and has gone fishing. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 18, 1928 in Union, Utah to Robert and Estella Atkinson. He was raised in Sandy and graduated from Jordan High School. He married his high school sweetheart, LaVon Swenson and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Dad spent most of his career as a traveling salesman and later drove school bus for Jordan School District, which he dearly loved.

He loved fishing, hunting, camping, boating and riding 4 wheelers with his family. He loved the mountains!

He was an active member of the LDS Church and loved going to the Temple on Tuesday with his friends.

Survived by his children, Susie Peterson (Dave), Judy Feld (Todd), Terry Atkinson (Becky) and Peggy DeGarmo (Terry); 22 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister and 2 brothers. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Vicky and grandson, Brett.

We love him and will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Mt. Jordan 3rd Ward, 8950 South 400 East, Sandy, Utah. Viewings will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday evening at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah and 1 hour prior to the services, at the church. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery.
