Lylette Willoughby
On July 21, 2018, Lylette Willoughby, our beloved mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend passed away at the home of her daughter after a brief but brave battle with cancer.
Born on July 8, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Lylette was the first of five children and only daughter of Lyle Staley and Gertrude Sofia Cost Willoughby. She was raised in Coalville and graduated from North Summit High School in 1965. Lylette lived in Arizona for a brief time and then returned to Coalville where she lived the rest of her life. Lylette had various jobs, but took the most pride her 25 year career with the Summit County Sheriff's Office as a Dispatcher and Reserve Deputy.
Lylette had a great appreciation for the beauty of nature and spent most of her life surrounded by horses and dogs which she adored. She loved the mountains, trees, and flowers. She loved to paint and would often spend hours working on various paintings and art projects. One of her most prized paintings won Judge's Choice at the Summit County Fair and is on display in the Summit County Courthouse.
Lylette was a dedicated and hard worker having a strong work ethic all of her life. Lil was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She had a kind heart and never passed judgement on anyone. Lylette was a devoted mother and a loving grandmother. Her greatest moments of joy were spent around her grandchildren.
Lylette is survived by her three children, James (Devon) of Coalville, Utah, Teressa Dayna Farr of Riverdale, Utah, and Shawnendoaha (Warren) Worsley of South Jordan, Utah. She is also survived by four brothers Joe (Charlotte) of Evanston, Wyoming, Robert of Fruitland, Utah, Boyd (Charlotte) of Coalville, Utah, and DeLaun (Caroline) of Coalville, Utah. She leaves behind fourteen beloved grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and cherished grandparents.
Private family services were held and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Lylette kept her sense of humor and dignity until the very end. You will be missed by many Lil. We love you.
