Luona Prisbrey

LuOna Talbot Prisbrey passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the age of 82.

LuOna was born on December 8, 1935 in Delta, Utah to Cloyd and Emma Talbot. She was the oldest of three children and their only daughter. LuOna grew up in Oak City, Utah, where she attended elementary school. She graduated from Delta High with the class of 1954.

While attending Dixie College in St. George, LuOna met the love of her life, Clark Prisbrey; they were sealed in the Manti Temple on June 17, 1955. They made their first home in Henderson, Nevada, and then decided that they wanted to raise their family in Utah. Clark ran a gas station in Delta, but later found work in Nephi where they made their permanent home.

LuOna has lived in the same home for 58 years, where she raised her five children. She worked for over 30 years for Juab School District as a lunch lady and as a teacher's aide for kindergarten, third grade, and fifth grade, where she loved all the children.

Well-known for her musical talent on the piano, organ, and accordion, LuOna could play completely from memory and by ear for hours on end. She accompanied and played for countless programs, church meetings, and funerals. She also taught many children to play the piano and the accordion. In addition to several other church callings, she was the ward organist for over 40 years.

LuOna is survived by her five children: Alan (Shelley) Prisbrey of Monroe, UT; Douglas (Debbie) Prisbrey of Vernal, UT; Gene (Amelia) Prisbrey of Orem, UT; Debra Prisbrey Zirbes of Nephi, UT; Dale (Sheri) Prisbrey of Mayfield, UT; 20 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren; her brother Arnold Talbot and sisters-in-law Leslie Talbot, LuDean Atwood, Zona McAllister, Fern Prisbrey, and Juanita Brinkerhoff; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Talbot, her parents, Cloyd and Emma Talbot, and her husband, Clark.

She is loved greatly by her family and friends in the community. We will miss her music, her wisdom, and her cooking - especially her chicken noodle soup and macaroni salad.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Nephi Stake Center 351 N. 100 W., Nephi, UT with a viewing one hour prior to the funeral. There will also be a viewing on Friday, February 23 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W. 300 N., Nephi, UT. Interment will be at Nephi City Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
