Lucas Arend van Dijk was born in Indonesia on November 25, 1946 to Gerrit van Dijk and Johanna van Vonno and passed away peacefully at his home on April 23, 2024.
He spent his formative years in the Netherlands and was relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah in April of 1960 with his parents and siblings.
He quickly learned English and graduated from West High School in 1965. He joined the USAF in 1965 and served two tours in Vietnam. Lucas retired as a Master Sergeant in 1985 after seeing the world.
Lucas married his beautiful wife, Delia, on September 6, 1969 and had their son, Lucas Michael in June of 1970 in Hawaii.
He loved to travel and did so every chance he got, especially to see his grandkids and his family in Holland.
Lucas is survived by his wife of 54 years, his son Lucas (Linda), his four grandchildren, siblings and many family members far and wide.
A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary in Midvale, UT on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 12 noon. Interment will be following directly at Camp Williams Veteran’s Cemetery in Bluffdale, UT.
