Beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many, Luana Winters Boyer Lewis, 73, passed away peacefully January 8, 2015.
Luana was born February 25, 1941 in Coalville, UT to Lyle Emerson Boyer and Helen Maxine Winters, the second of seven children. She graduated from North Summit High School in 1959, and later graduated from the LDS Business College with a degree in Accounting.
Luana was taught to work at a very young age and she maintained that work ethic throughout her life. The last 17 years of her career she worked for Summit County as a Deputy Court Clerk where she enjoyed working with the public.
Luana was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was grateful for the strength and support her church affiliation provided, her testimony was unwavering. She held many callings; one of her favorites was serving as a consultant in the Family History Center in Hurricane, Utah. She loved genealogy and many sought out her expertise. She was a member of the LaVerkin 7th Ward where she lived for the past 18 years.
Luana loved to travel and explore the world, she enjoyed learning the history of Southern Utah and exploring and visiting many historical sites. She had a love and appreciation for nature and the beauty of the world around her. Luana also enjoyed and was very talented in quilting, cooking, painting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, floral arrangements and gardening. She was always willing to teach and share with others her many talents.
"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, I used everything you gave me!"
Luana brought joy and laughter to many throughout her life. Her laughter, kindness, caring, love, devotion and generosity will forever have touched our lives, and her memory will remain in our hearts. Luana will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Luana leaves behind three children: Kyle Weldon (Anita) Lewis; Marla Lewis and Krae Verl (Telaina) Lewis; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren. She is also survived by five siblings: Glen (Royanne) Boyer, Louise McPherson, Betty (Paul) Peisley, Bonnie (Hal) Jones; Lori (Michael) Rees; and sister-in-law, Ginny Boyer. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roy; and brother-in-law, Rex McPherson. Luana loved and cherished her family deeply. They celebrated and laughed often, creating memories that will be forever cherished.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Hoytsville LDS Church, 1095 S. Hoytsville Rd, Hoytsville, UT 84017. Friends and family may gather to express love and pay respect from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the church, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment will follow at the Coalville City Cemetery.
