Louis Val Peterson passed away peacefully at his home Nov. 6, 2017. He was born Feb. 14, 1930 in Sandy, Utah to Roy Venus and Myrtle Cushing Peterson. He was raised in Sandy, graduated from Jordan High School and proudly served in the United States Army in the Korean War.
He met and married Nila Ferguson in 1954. They had four children.
Val is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Seth Douglas, Phil, and sisters Phoebe Renee and Bengta Vaun Dean, his wife, Nila, and one daughter, Stephanie Ann Lange (Hal). Survived by his sister, Karen Johnson (Leon), daughter, Vallrie Chris Jennings (Bill), sons, Scott F. (Marsha), Marc F. (Tony Hair), 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life he worked hard. He had various driving/delivery jobs. When he married Nila he started working and managing the Ferg's Service Station for 17 years, then he went to work for CPC (a concrete company) for 23 years until he retired.
Dad enjoyed dancing with Mom in their younger days, and playing with horseshoes. He also enjoyed bowling and did this until he had to have hip surgery, and then he had to give it up.
There will be a viewing Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary located at 8090 S. State St. The funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., with a one-hour viewing at the church starting at 9:00 a.m. The services will be at the LDS Chapel at 6300 S. 300 E. in Murray, Utah. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
