Lorraine Ellis Hawkins (98) passed away peacefully on January 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born March 24, 1924 to William and Naomi (Walker) Ellis, and was raised in Salt Lake City. She married Roger Sewell Hawkins on October 14, 1957.
Lorraine was preceded in death by siblings Bud Brady, Hazel Brady, Vera Brady, Mary Brady, Florence Ellis, Ruth Ellis, and her son, Erland Sewell Hawkins. She is survived by her husband, Roger, and her three daughters RaNae (Olsen), Luanna (Kreifeldt), and Janene (Renaud), as well as twelve grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 19 great-great grandchildren.
She was an avid genealogist and contributed her expertise to many members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was also a very talented porcelain doll artist. During her lifetime of service to the Church, she served in many capacities from the Relief Society, Primary President of the Northwestern States Mission, and Ward Choir Director for twenty years. She also enjoyed feeding visiting Missionaries delicious home-cooked meals.
There will be a viewing Friday, January 27th, 2023 at Goff Mortuary (8090 S State Street) in Midvale from 5-7pm. The burial will be at Murray City Cemetery at 11am, Saturday, January 28th.
