Lorene Mickelsen Mark died September 6, 2021, at Beehive Home of South Jordan. She was born in Crescent, Utah to Adolph James and Ellen Nelson Mickelsen on October 26, 1931. She married James P Mark in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 13, 1958. He preceded her in death August 11, 2004.

Lorene graduated from Jordan High School in 1949. She received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education in 1956 and her Masters in Education Administration in 1980 from Brigham Young University. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She began her teaching career at Midvale Junior High where she taught for two years and then moved to Mt. Jordan Junior High for four years. When Hillcrest High School opened in 1962, Lorene was selected to join the faculty. She taught there for twenty-five years, serving as the English Department Chairman. For twenty years, she also was very active in student extra-curricular activities, as well as many state and district committees. Although Lorene had the opportunity to move into administration, she elected to remain in the classroom - her greatest love. Her biggest reward was working with young people and being able have some influence on their lives. She had a great love for teenagers and for teaching. With being a master teacher, she was also an excellent example and friend to her students. She was respected and admired by her students and peers.

Lorene cherished family and friends. She loved to entertain, and her home was always open to everyone.

Her son, Greg, and his wife, Diane, were the greatest joy to her.

She enjoyed nature's beauty, good books, good music, and the theatre. She loved to travel, golf, and paint. She is survived by her son Greg (Diane), West Jordan; step son Jim (Joanne), Hayden, ID; brothers Lee (Thelma), Highland Ranch, CO, Reid (Gale) of Bellevue, WA; sister Arlene Moore, Alexandria, VA. Preceded in death by her husband, Jim, parents, infant sister, brothers Gordon, Ray, and Larry, and special friend Willard "Buzz" Carroll.

Visitation will be September 12th from 6 pm - 8 pm at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street in Midvale, Utah. Funeral services for Lorene will also be at the same location at 11 am, September 13th, with a visitation prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:45 am. Graveside services will immediately follow at West Jordan Cemetery, 7925 South 1300 West, West Jordan.

Lorene was always a very giving individual donating to several charities. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the cause of your choice.
