Lois Tycksen (81) passed away peacefully on 1/10/2023 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born 4/1/1941 to Sherman and Joyce Smith. Raised in Midvale, graduated from Jordan High School. She attended LDS Business College. She found the love of her life, Lawrence Tycksen. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple. They bought a home in Midvale, UT where they raised their small family.
She’s preceded in death by her husband Lawrence and her daughter-in-law Tami. She is survived by her sister Linda, brother Dean (Louise), children: Brian and Kristin, grandchildren: Ashley (Quinton), Richard, MaryAnn and Brinley and great grandchildren: Adilynn, Kaysen and Sienna.
She was an avid doll collector throughout her life and was a member of multiple doll clubs. She was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many capacities from the Relief Society, Young Woman’s program to the Primary. She loved spending time with the primary aged children.
The highlight of her life was her family. She always supported her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their interests, hobbies and activities. Lois would be found sitting on the sidelines cheering them on or in the audience rooting for the flawless performance. She always had a keen mind and was sharp as a tack. Anyone could ask her a question and she’d always know the answer.
There will be a viewing Tuesday 1/17/2023 at Goff Mortuary (8090 S State Street) in Midvale from 6-8PM. On Wednesday 1/18/2023, an hour viewing at 11AM followed by her service at 12PM in the Midvale East 6th Ward Church building located at 7250 S 300 E in Midvale. The interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, UT.
