I was born on Christmas Day of 1943. In 2008, I was diagnosed with Kidney cancer. With a strong will to live and the help of Dr. Neeraj Agarwal and the Huntsman Cancer Institute, I was able to enjoy an additional nine wonderful, mostly pain free, years before dying on April 29, 2017, at the age of 73.
My parents were Elmer John and Mildred Green Jansen. I spent the first three years of my life living with my mom and my NaNa in the Green family home on Danish Road in Butler. When my father returned from WWII, we moved to Union Avenue in Union where I had a very happy childhood. It was here that a brother and sister were added to the family. My brother is Stanley Jansen (Louise Duran) and my sister is Shellee Jansen Van Dam (Troy). After marrying, I moved to Midvale where I lived the rest of my life. I married Robert Patience and we were parents of one daughter, Robin Kim. Robert and I were later divorced.
I began working at an early age, my first job was at Arctic Circle on 6200 South Highland Drive. I worked for several other companies before retiring from Rite Aid with 30 years of service. Love you S. Burns. I loved retirement. I loved spending time with my family. I loved the friends I had made along the way. Love you B.W. I loved traveling, camping, gardening, decorating, and most of all visiting my daughter, Kim and her husband, Wade Dennis, in Montgomery, Texas.
Special thanks to my cousins, Sylvia Orton, best friend, travel buddy, and Uber driver; Gayle Conger, my second Uber driver and financial/health insurance guru; and my sister-in-law, Joann Patience, who was always there when I needed her.
Kim, I will always be there on your shoulder.
