Linda Hoyt McMahan was born in East Orange, New Jersey, to the late James Lawrence and Jean Heimroth Hoyt on June 5, 1947 and passed away on August 15, 2018.
Linda attended high school in Greenville, South Carolina, and received a BS degree in Sociology from Columbia College, Columbia, South Carolina.
She inherited her love for travel from her father and was fortunate to have visited a wide variety of countries around the world - China, Australia, Spain, Thailand, Austria, Germany and Africa.
Linda was a loyal Jazz fan, a lover of beaches, and was fiercely compassionate about helping others. She spent many hours working on the fashion shows and talent contests of the Columbus Center as well as Christmas shopping for the Navajo Santa project.
She is survived by her son, William H. McMahan, Jr. and his wife, Qian of New York City; her sister, Judy Chavis and her husband, Thurston, of Chapin, South Carolina; her nephews Trip Chavis and his wife, Melissa, of Chapin, South Carolina and Ryan Chavis of Charleston, South Carolina; and E Jay Mathews.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, William H. McMahan, Sr.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
