Linda Cecile Humphries, 78, passed away on October 16, 2022 at her home in West Jordan, Utah. She was born on February 24, 1944 in Salt Lake City to Louise and Lester Leary. She was sealed to Dick Humphries on September 6, 1968 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were happily married for 54 years.
A devoted member of her church, Linda served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Toronto, Canada in 1965, including working in the mission office with President Toronto. Beyond her mission, she could always be counted on to go above and beyond in fulfilling her callings. She found joy in serving others, loved teaching primary children, working in a special needs ward and her time serving in an inner city mission.
As a mother, she was a tireless homemaker and dedicated mother who worked overtime and weekends raising her two sons and two daughters. Even as each of them left home to start their own lives, she took care to ensure that each of her children were remembered on special days with cards and presents for birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries and just because. She was a reliable and prolific writer of thank you notes.
Linda was a loving and kind grandmother who would drop everything to play with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever they asked. There was never any doubt in their minds that being with them was the single most important thing she could imagine. On visits, sleepovers and on camping trips, she could always be counted on to play a board game, and they loved her special pancakes.
Linda was preceded in passing by her parents, Lester and Louise Leary. She is survived by her husband, Dick; her sister, Vivian; her brothers, Brian, Kent and Galen; her children, Doug, Debbie, Becky and Steve; 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held prior at 10:00 AM at the stake center located at 2901 W 9000 S, West Jordan, UT.
