Linda Sue Brady

Linda Sue Brady was born on November 20, 1957, in Las Vegas, NV, and passed away peacefully at the age of 67 on March 7, 2025 in Orem, UT from pneumonia. She was a beloved daughter of Wanda Nell Wilson and William Jay Brady, and grew up with her siblings Phyllis and Don near the Nevada Test Site. Her father worked as the Sr. Health Physicist at the nuclear testing site, and she spoke frequently of her young life in Indian Springs.

As a girl she enjoyed dancing and songleading, and was always very interested in the social scene at school. Her parents held Linda and her siblings to high academic standards, and she was expected to work hard on her studies. Because of this she had a lifelong love of learning.

After receiving her degree in Information Systems, Linda worked in a variety of technical fields throughout her life.

Her children were her greatest treasure. She was married to Terry Wayne Nelson and became the mother to two children, Heidi and Blake. Linda and Terry separated soon after Blake’s birth, and she worked hard to safeguard the raising of her precious children while holding various jobs in Las Vegas. Eventually she felt her children’s education would be better served in Colorado, and despite significant personal hardship moved her little family to Colorado Springs near her sister Phyllis. Linda felt very keenly the need to expose Heidi and Blake to many interests, and despite her busy schedule ensured they were enrolled in karate, dance, ice skating, swimming, chess club, and more.

In 2001, Linda sacrificed to move her family again to support Heidi and then Blake as they both attended and graduated from BYU in Provo, UT. But in this move she made many sweet friends who supported and loved her.

Linda loved the Christmas season and kept many treasured ornaments throughout much of her life.

Her faith was a cornerstone to her life. Linda was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she relied on her faith in Jesus Christ and the promises made through her covenants to sustain her through the many hardships she endured. Even in her later years she was constantly found writing poetry to praise the name of the Lord, and would call her children to read them.

In 2014 Linda was sealed to Russell Armstrong in the Denver, CO temple. Shortly after their marriage doctors discovered that she was in severe danger of stroke from a number of aneurysms, and she underwent surgery to curb the danger. However she did not recover well, and many of the remaining years of her life were spent in the care of the stalwart and admirable caregivers at Spring Hollow in Orem, UT. They described Linda as very sweet, funny, and strong-willed, with a deep love of flowers and chocolate. Her family is in debt to the love and care shown to her there.

She is survived by her sister Phyllis with her husband George and their three children; her brother Don; her daughter Heidi with her husband Tom and grandchildren Echo and Persephone; and her son Blake with his wife Tamara and grandchildren Claire, Molly, Titus, Eli, and Luke. Linda will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her devotion to education, her legacy of loving sacrifice, and her abiding hope that the future can be better than the past.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 11:00 AM with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale. Interment to follow the services at Orem City Cemetery.
