Lila Lynnel Caldwell

Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Lila Lynnel Welch Caldwell passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2020. Nell was born in Murray, UT on October 8, 1938, the oldest daughter of Jens Roland Welch and Lila Jane Brown. Lynnel married her sweet heart David Lloyd Caldwell. They were loving parents of three beautiful children; Mike, Debbie and Shelley. Their family residence began in Sandy. They moved to Idaho for eight years and then moved their family back to their permanent home in Sandy, UT.

Lynnel was a phlebotomist for many years at Cottonwood Hospital. She loved her work and had many good friends there. She loved to stay busy refinishing furniture, quilting, canning, juicing, gardening and crafting. Lynnel had a talent for making beautiful, detailed quilts for everyone. She made the best, frozen, raspberry jam. She was proud of her poppy flower garden and her raspberry patch. She especially enjoyed caring for the plants that were in her yard for many generations, placed there by her mother and grandmother. She loved nature. She was happiest at the ground that she and Lloyd purchased in Echo Creek. They worked hard to build a cabin and create a place that their family could enjoy and where their grandsons could hunt.

Lynnel was a devoted grandmother to three rambunctious boys; Taylor, Trevor and Tye. She spent her days supporting them at ballgames from Little League to College. She loved them dearly and spoiled them rotten. She extended her love to those they married; Camie, Ashley and Jessica, teaching and serving. Later, when Nell became a great grandma to 7 girls and 4 boys her life was filled with tending and teaching them to sew, bake bread and cookies. She popped popcorn with them, played hide and seek and chase around the house. The grandkids and great grandkids were everything to her. She would do anything for her family.

Lynnel is survived by her sister Rolayne Dahl, her daughter Debbie Stauffer (Richard), her grandsons Taylor (Jessica) Stauffer, Trevor (Camie) Stauffer, Tye (Ashley) Stauffer and eleven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband David (Lloyd) Caldwell, her son Michael, and her daughter Shelley.
