Lester Rogers Porter passed away at the age of 100 on October 18, 2016 in Murray, UT. Born August 1, 1916 in Joseph City, Arizona, he was the oldest son of Aaron Bond and Jane Rogers Porter.
His life span included work on the cattle range, college, an LDS mission, after which he married Maurine Gonzalez on December 18, 1940. He was a dedicated husband and father of four. His life was devoted to hard work, teaching correct principles and integrity. He was an electrician by trade, builder, engineer, mechanic, gardener and scriptorian. He served in many capacities in the LDS church over the years. He was committed to his God, family, fellowmen and country and he leaves a priceless legacy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his son Roger, daughter-in-law Shirley Porter, son-in-law Gene Rawlings, his parents and six siblings. He is survived by three daughters, Marva Rawlings, Minnie (John) Leyland, Diann Porter; five grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, six great grandchildren, 28 step great grandchildren, and one brother, Hal Porter, of Holbrook, Arizona.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 1:00 pm in the Heritage Ward Chapel, 67 West Clay Park Drive in Murray, Utah. Viewing to be held prior to the funeral at 11:30 am.
