Leone Jensen

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Leone Richardson Jensen (93) died August 22, 2015 of causes related to age and dementia. She was born April 11, 1922, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the 5th daughter of Albert and Anna Dora Swensen Richardson. She also had 3 younger brothers.

Leone was a lifelong, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her youthful home was on Chicago Street in Salt Lake City. She graduated from West High School. As a young woman she worked for HG Kress Co.

The year following high school Leone traveled to Anaconda, Montana to help her sister with a new baby and met a very tall, dark and handsome man; Marven Don Jensen. They married in the Cardston, Alberta, Canada temple on June 4, 1941. They were happily married for 53½ years before Don's death on September 4, 1995.

Don and Leone were blessed with 6 children: Dianne Beutler, Marilyn (Lynn) Monson, Kristine (Paul) Monson, Alan Jensen, Marianne (Robert) Breitenbeker, and Janice Jensen. These children gave her 27 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.

Leone was happiest as a homemaker, but she also was an election judge, PTA mom, and vendor at many Senior boutiques. She had a love of flowers and gardening and always had the most beautiful yard on Olympus St. She had a very large rose garden with dozens of plants. Leone loved baking, handwork, quilting, sewing (she made many of her children's clothes), became a master cake decorator, and was all around a compassionate and loving woman. She held many positions of leadership in the church, but was always humble in doing so. She loved family parties and enjoyed travel with her family. Her home was always open.

Leone leaves behind brothers Dean and William, 4 daughters and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Edna, Fern, Bernice, and Irene, brother Glen, her husband, son Alan, daughter Janice, 2 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Midvale 4th Ward, 7825 South Olympus Street, Midvale, Utah. A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. the day of the funeral.

We appreciate the special love and care she received while living at Garden Terrace and Beehive Homes.
