Leola Dixon Fox, 96, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend peacefully passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 surrounded by her family. Lee, as she was affectionately known, was born on August 14, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leonard F. Dixon and Olive Davis Dixon. She married Harmon L. Fox on February 24, 1939. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on December 15, 1964. She was a member of the LDS Church who had an unwavering faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, and who loved reading and studying her scriptures. She served faithfully in the Primary, Sunday School, and as a Visiting Teacher into her late '80s.
Leola was beautiful inside and out. She and Harmon were full of charity and generosity, offering countless acts of kindness and service. They especially loved Christmastime and helping other families make sure their children had gifts to open on Christmas morning. Lee was compassionate and caring; friends became family to her and she loved and served them all selflessly.
Lee was hard working and she worked for Bennett's Paint & Glass for 25 years. She was an expert in operating their intricate, filling machines. She was also a beautiful artist who loved painting with oils and drawing with pencil. Other hobbies included gardening, family history, and keeping a daily diary for over 20 years. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved each member unconditionally, always put their needs above her own, and sought to help each of them in any way she could. She leaves a legacy of love and service.
Leola is survived by her three children, Kathy (Gary) Rosenkrantz, Dennis Fox, and Von Fox (Kurt Campbell); five grandchildren: Denise (Brad) Lapp, Gary (Jan) Rosenkrantz, Jeff (Pam) Fox, Ryan (Jodi) Rosenkrantz, Melissa (Chet) Mauchley; 16 great-grandchildren: Kallie, Katie, Kaden, Michael, Porter, Hayden, Kendall, Wes, Cory, Brady (Story), Riley, Olivia, Caleb, Tyler, Nathan, Annie; sister, Connie Barlow; brothers, Loran (Shirley) Dixon, Leland (Eutona) Dixon; sisters-in-law, Doreen Dixon and Mary Lou Dixon. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Harmon; daughter-in-law, Susan Fox; brothers, Louis Dixon and Roy Dixon; brother-in-law, Joe Barlow; and niece Kristi Cutler.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the hospice team at Intermountain Health and Hospice for the gentle and loving care they gave to Lee, particularly Brittany, Rosa, Natalie, and Shontay.
