Leatrice Joyce Coulson Pay passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in Mona, Utah. She was born in Fountain Green, Utah November 30, 1927 to Francis Rowbury and Gertrude Madsen Coulson. She married Gordon Pay on April 2, 1947 in the Manti Temple. Together they raised five children.
She enjoyed many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a teenager she worked as a Soda Jerk in Salt Lake City, graduating from Granite High School. After moving back to the area she worked at the First Security Bank, Ralph's Market, Valley & Winter Lumber, and the Sewing Plant all located in Nephi. After her husband passed, she was grateful for the opportunity to work as the Juab County Treasurer from 1983-1996.
Joyce had many wonderful friends that she loved dearly. They would meet weekly to attend the Temple on Tuesday, Senior's on Wednesday, and playing cards/lunch on Thursday. When she lost her eyesight it didn't stop them, they just found bigger cards to play with. She also loved dragging Main with her Pepsi drinking buddies.
Joyce loved to travel to the point her kids put a for sale sign as joke in front of the house when she returned home. Nothing brought her more pleasure than her grandchildren. She loved watching them in all activities including sports, dancing, musicals, singing, church, etc. In return they spent time with her doing yard work, house work, going to lunch, or just stopping by for a visit.
We must not be sad for she has returned home after 40 years apart to be with her husband. What a beautiful desert sunset that must have been. Thank you to all who served her and made her life a heaven on earth.
Joyce is survived by five children: Mike and Lois Pay (Mona), Brenda and Ed Newton (Mona), Linda and Dale Lyn Greenhalgh (Nephi), Allen and Denise Pay (Mona) and Donna and Ralph Street (Mona), 19 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, two infant brothers, one granddaughter Melinda, and one great granddaughter Graycee.
