Our beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 8, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born to Cato and Ruth Haskay on March 18, 1969.
Layne is survived by his daughters, Davina Marcus, Sierra, Savannah, and Gabrielle Haskay; his granddaughters, Autumn Marcus and Kairi Haskay; his sisters Jill Trubow and Annette Haskay; brother Cato Haskay Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Layne was an avid artist in both musicianship and artistry as he was an accomplished drummer and pianist. His love for water color, oil, and sketch art was expressed and displayed in the paintings and drawings that he created throughout his lifetime. Layne's love and mastery of art extended to his landscaping work that he created through his successful business, Haskay Landscape.
Layne's passion for music was not only expressed through drumming and piano. He loved listening to many styles of music; the many different genres of Rock & Roll being amongst his favorites. He also heavily enjoyed attending Rock concerts of all his favorite bands on a regular basis.
Layne was a person that we all knew to be hard working, strong willed, determined, and protecting. However, he would occasionally let his guard down and allow us a glimpse of his sensitive side. When this side was revealed, the grandness of Layne's heart, passion, and love for all that he cared for was literally overwhelming. His smile would light up your day, his voice would soothe your soul, and his humor would boost your spirit.
Layne's will to fight and never give up was evident up to the end. He demonstrated to us all how much of a warrior he truly is. Layne's incredible character is something we all can embody to better our lives and improve ourselves as people. There was no one else like him. There never will be.
We will always miss and love you Layne. Go on your way. Go on your way. To Home Sweet Home.
