Lavonne Fitzgerald

LaVonne Rosamond Palmquist Fitzgerald, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at the age of 88 on November 13, 2017, surrounded by family at her home in Draper, Utah. LaVonne was born on June 4, 1929 to parents Lowell and Ann Palmquist.

She married the love of her life, Sherman Fitzgerald, on January 28, 1950. Later they solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on June 21, 1960. Together they had five children who they raised together on their family dairy farm in Draper, Utah.

LaVonne cooked her famous roasts with an open invite for all to enjoy and if you couldn't make it on Sunday you could stop by for Monday leftovers. The holidays were always a big event at the farm and LaVonne made each one special with her own unique twist creating traditions that will be passed down for generations. She was a very talented quilter and enjoyed making quilts for her loved ones. Her beautiful quilts are great keepsakes for all who received them.

LaVonne loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and all the time she spent with them. Visiting Grandma at the farm was a special treat where there would be an ample amount of candy, sodas, nuts, crackers and Easy Cheese. Grandchildren and great grandchildren looked forward to feeding the animals and in grandma's younger days she would pedal her three-wheeler bike around with them.

She was witty and had the gift of gab making all those she encountered feel welcomed and loved. While she will be greatly missed, her love will carry on in the hearts of her family forever.

LaVonne is survived by her children, Karen (Steve) Pearce, L. Darwin Fitzgerald, Kevin (Cindy) Fitzgerald and Karleen Necaise; grandchildren, Mack Fitzgerald, Sam (Ashley) Fitzgerald, Brent (Michelle) Pearce, Wendy (Nate) Cottle, Jenny (Marcus) Burrup, Toree (Richard) Suchar, Shane (Amy) Cottle, Nicole (Matt) Empey, Brianna Fitzgerald, James Necaise, Ricky (Melissa) Necaise and Cary (Chelsey) Necaise; 22 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sherman Fitzgerald; son, Sherman Kent Fitzgerald; siblings, Lowell Junior, Betty McKenzie and Marlyn O'Leary.

A graveside service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Draper City Cemetery, 12450 South 900 East. A viewing will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the graveside at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah.
