Lavon Grace Glazier Black Tanner

LaVon Grace Neff Glazier Black Tanner was born on a cold snowy day at the family farm in Crescent, Utah to Stanley B. Neff and Grace Rindlisbacher Neff on November 22, 1924. She returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on October 17, 2016 surrounded by family.

She was the oldest of 4 children and always told many stories about her childhood working and playing on her parent's turkey farm. A "True Beetdigger" through and through, she graduated from Jordan High School in 1943. That same year she married her high school sweetheart Boyd D. Glazier in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had two children, D (DeWayne) and Gaye, who were the light of her life. During their marriage they lived in Farragut, Ventura, San Pedro and as a family in Hollywood and Lake Arrowhead, Calif.

She was a jack of all trades: a US Navy clerk, factory seamstress, LA Examiner paper boy, LA Parks and Rec secretary, admitting clerk and nurses aide at UCLA Neuro Psych Institute and Patton State Hospital. She worked at the Hollywood Bowl for many years. She also was a typist for the Salt Lake Legislative Session House of Rep., eventually retiring from Mountain Fuel Supply.

She returned to her Utah roots in 1968 and married June Black in 1971 and together discovered their love of traveling and gardening, winning the Sandy City Yard Beautification Award 18 years in a row. They drove their motor home to all but 3 provinces in Canada, all but 4 states in the US and 11 trips into Mexico. She was so proud to have traveled around the world with her stewardess daughter, Gaye.

She loved reading, cooking, handcrafts, music, theater, gardening, board games and sewing. Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, earning the title "GG" for Great Gran. She loved spending time with them and did so regularly. She loved her family. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and made friends wherever she went. She always had a story to share. She loved her Heavenly Father and believed strongly in her faith. She outlived three husbands but enjoyed 60 years of marriage. She was the caring and loving wife of Clifford Tanner. We liked to tease her that she couldn't marry again simply because she couldn't remember any more last names.

Survived by her son, D (JJ) Glazier; sister, Faye (K) Brady; grandchildren Darren (Stephanie) Williamson; Whitney (Vinnie) Fassio; Jared (Katie) Glazier; Wesley Williamson; Kira (Ryan) Draper; great grandchildren, Clara, Rocco, Celeste, Owen, Dominic, Becca, Jet, Poppy and Fynn, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends especially at Cornerstone in South Jordan and Cedarwood at Sandy.  Preceded in death by her parents; husbands Boyd Glazier; June Black; Clifford Tanner; daughter Gaye Williamson; and great grandson Gavin Williamson. Special thanks to the staff at Cedarwood, Hospice Care and IMC Murray.

She loved to play "Guess how old I am" with everyone and would be so happy at 92 to know the IMC ER guessed 80 at her final admittance.

A graveside will be held at 11:00 am on Sat., October 22, 2016 at Crescent Cemetery, 11110 S. State Street, Sandy Utah.  A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday evening at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah. Interment, Crescent Cemetery.
