Laura Penrod

Laura Jo Garlick Penrod, 52, returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, September 15, 2023 in Delta, Utah. She was surrounded by those who loved her and whom she loved. Laura was born on February 2, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Dale and Betty Shappie Garlick. She is the oldest of nine children: Rosemary, Laura, Carol, Tom, Susan, James, Barbara, Sam, and Douglas.

During her younger years she lived in many different homes in many cities. She was educated in the Pleasant Grove, Lindon, Orem, American Fork, and Provo schools.

Laura has always had a vigorous love for life. She has the biggest heart and is always willing to share anything she has with others. Her greatest talent is making others happy. She has a voracious appetite for reading and loves learning about her pioneer heritage.

She met the love of her life, Larry Penrod, in 1991. They were married on June 1, 1996. They have had many adventures together, having lived in Utah, California, and Washington state. She has worked at many jobs from retail sales, factory worker, health aide, to truck scale operator. She received her accounting degree while living in Oxnard, California.

Laura and Larry have always had an incredible love for animals. They have had many beloved dogs over the years and two of them, Banjo and Macey were at her feet when she left this world.

Laura is survived by her husband Larry Penrod (Delta), parents Dale and Betty Garlick (Mona), sister Rose Williams (Delta), sister Carol Bullard (St. George), brother Tom Garlick (Mona), sister Sue Coleman (Newton, IA), sister-in-law Misdy Garlick (Redmond), sister Barbara (AJ) Garlick (Wyoming), brother Sam (Jodi) Garlick (St. George), and brother Doug (Tausha) Garlick (Mona). She is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, brother Jim Garlick, brother-in-law Jake Bullard, and nephew Jeremy Cobb as well as other beloved uncles, aunts and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30 at 11:00 AM at the Mona 3rd and 4th Ward building, 100 West 800 South, Mona, UT 84645. A viewing will be held the same morning from 9:30 until 10:45.
