October 13, 1945 — November 6, 2015

Laura M. Reynolds Robards Christensen

On November 6, 2015 our witty, beautiful, headstrong, generous "not going to make this departure easy on you or me" Mom, Daughter, Sister, Grandma, Aunt, Cousin, Partner, Friend; reluctantly left us to see what is on the other side. We are not better for her leaving and we are on stand-by for her spirit to further instruct on how to proceed without her. She has been our security blanket, our biased confidant, our best friend, and responsible for giving us our deepest belly laughs.

Laura was born in Murray, Utah to Bertha Setterberg Rand and Richard Setterberg. She was raised as a devout Catholic and always adorned her cross necklace. Laura had a 28 year career with Sandy City Hall Corp. as the Community Relations Liaison a.k.a. Sandy City "Complaint Taker." She loved her job, her co-workers, and the residents. She had a talent of making the angriest residents laugh and often they would send her flowers.  During her tenure at Sandy City Hall she was also an active member of the Exchange Club. She was honored a Women in Business council service award and received an Honored Sandy Museum Certificate of Appreciation.  Additionally, she was also a continued member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 60 years. Laura's passions included writing poetry, reading history, maintaining her flower garden and talking politics. If you ever had the opportunity to talk politics with her (most have!), she would never bend on her liberal views and those conversations were the most fun to have with her. Laura loved being a mom not only to her daughters, but also to all of her daughters' friends. She leaves a lot of mourning children behind.

Laura is survived by her four daughters: Jenny Lewis, Becky Reynolds (Brett), Kathy (Mark) Oyler, Vicky (Apollo) Burgamy, mother Bertha Setterberg Rand, sister Karen (Gil) Lucero, brother Allan (Ellen) Setterberg, four grandchildren: Zayne Petty, Laura Bowles, Caleb Lewis and Jada Oyler, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Last but not least, she is survived by her long time "main squeeze" and sparring partner Alvin "Babe" Malstrom.

Laura was preceded in death by her father Richard Setterberg.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 11th at Goff Mortuary located on 8090 S. State Street.  Viewing at 11:30 am. Services will begin at 1:00 pm. Laura jokingly asked that we all try very hard to be sad, no laughing or smiling allowed. She joked about hiring 30 mourners. After graveside service, we would love all people close to Laura to meet for laughs, light lunch and Laura stories at River Oaks Golf Course, 9300 South Riverside Drive.
