Nora LaRue Tuft, 85, passed away January 29, 2016 in Draper, Utah. She was born June 25, 1930 in Grace, Idaho to Brigham Ervin and Othello Rawlins McCann.
LaRue left college to go to Pocatello to manage a state farm allotment planting program for farmers.
She met and later married Allen Manning. He and his brother had just started a funeral home.
LaRue played the organ and did hair. LaRue and her husband started a shuttle service between Idaho and Utah. On one trip two of their planes hit a storm. Both planes crashed, killing her husband and two other pilots. LaRue was a pilot. LaRue later moved to Salt Lake to live with her parents. She joined a construction company and joined Women in Construction, a national organization. She met Jay Tuft through a friend in the organization.
They got married March 9, 1966 in San Francisco, where Jay was working. LaRue was Vice President of Jay Tuft and Co. Inc. for 20 years, until the company retired in 1987.
Survived by husband, Jay; stepson, Dale Craig Tuft; stepdaughter, Kathleen (Loren) Robinson; stepdaughter-in-law, Julia Tuft; and granddaughters, Shantel Pettit, Sheena Cummings, and Brittany Tuft.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Draper 7th Ward, 12300 South 600 East in Draper, where there will be a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
