LaRue Murray Sidwell, 81, our loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother of Alpine, UT, passed away on March 18th, 2018 in Alpine, UT after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
LaRue was born in Kohala, Kapaau, HI to Lila and Ralph Murray on November 11, 1936. She attended Juab High School in Nephi, UT where she excelled scholastically and was a proud member of the cheer squad. She graduated in 1955.
She was sealed in the Manti, UT Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Byron W. Sidwell on June 23rd, 1955.
LaRue grew up on the big island of Hawaii, where she learned and loved to dance the Hula. She and her family were in Hawaii when Pearl Harbor was bombed. Her father eventually moved the family to Nephi, UT during WWll. It was during her junior year of high school, at an ice cream shop, where she met her future eternal partner, Byron W. (Bill) Sidwell.
Her greatest joy in life was taking care of Bill and their three children.
She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing the piano for them and teaching them about the Gospel.
LaRue and Bill served various missions for the LDS Church in Price, UT, Auckland, New Zealand and at the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City, UT. She and Bill also served as Temple Workers at the Provo, UT and Timpanogos Temples.
She is survived by her husband, Byron W. Sidwell, her brother Fay Murray and his wife Barbara, her son Kevin Sidwell and his wife Jobie, her son Glen Sidwell and his wife Billie Jean, her daughter Charlotte Sidwell, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
LaRue is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Lila Murray, her sister Wanza Murray Christensen, her brother Fancher Murray, and her grandchild Madison Tate Sidwell.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 22, 2018 in the Alpine, UT Mountainville 3rd Ward, 901 East Village Way, Alpine, UT 84004. Prior to the service, friends and family are welcome to attend a viewing at the same location from 9:45 - 10:45 am.
