Taylorsville, Utah – Nila passed away on June 18th of natural causes peacefully in her home surrounded by her children.

Mom had a witty and funny sense of humor ... she loved dogs! Especially her close companion Lady ... she joked that she liked her kids but loved her dog. She donated money to ASPCA and others. Mom was an avid reader and wrote beautiful poetry. Mom loved to serve, and she was PTA president for 4 years and a teacher's aid for many years. She helped our dad build his business Progressive Reporting Agency for over 40 years before retirement.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and sealed to sweetheart Roy in the Salt Lake Temple. She loved genealogy work and served as ward historian.

She was an amazing cook and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. After 2 years Mom was reunited with dad, they were married 65 years.

Nila leaves behind 4 children: Colette (Steve) Pehrson, Ann Andrews, Jileen Martin and Randall (Wendy) Butterfield, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Nila leaves behind 4 brothers, Steve, Lenice, Kim & Alan Maynard.

Preceded in death by husband Roy Butterfield, Clifford Maynard (father) Wanda Reese (mother) sisters, Carolyn Roylance, ArvaLee Lund, and Sharon Lavelle Van Amen.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd from 10 am to 11:30 am at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, Utah. Following the viewing a luncheon will be held at the Bennion 5th Ward Building at noon: 6100 South Kamas Dr. (2600 W), Taylorsville.
