L. Matthew Olson

Lester Matthew Olson, 42, was born on November 8, 1975 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jim and Debbie Olson. Matt married the love of his life Melissa Mae Stott on October 29, 1996. Matt was raised in Sandy, Utah and graduated from Brighton High School.

Matt, fought a long and courageous battle with depression, sadly the pain became unbearable and he took his own life on Saturday, February 10, 2018.

Matt was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.

Matt was the "Ultimate Giver" holding nothing back and asking for nothing in return.

Matt brought so much joy to our lives with his teasing and practical jokes. Matt was the Chief Technology Officer for the Les Olson Company where he worked for 26 years. Matt was an avid outdoorsman and an adrenaline junkie with a need for speed. He was passionate about technology, a master photographer and enjoyed tinkering in the garage with his 3 boys.

Matt is survived by his sweet wife Melissa and their sons Riley (Taylour, granddaughter Navy), Dylan, and Tristan. His parents Jim and Debbie, brother James (Sydney, Jesse, Hailey, Macie, Ryder, Mason, Alyx), sister Jodie (Chris, Talee, Kinzlee, Lillee, Charlee) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Vivian and Calvin Maytum, Les and Reva Olson.

If you know anyone suffering from depression, we as a family would like to encourage you to reach out and seek professional help.
