Lanny Bruce Garrison, born January 6, 1943 to Helen Gay Howell Garrison and Harlen D. Garrison in Nampa, Idaho passed away on May 8, 2015 in South Jordan, Utah.
During his life, Bruce took on great responsibilities and challenges fearlessly. He was an Idaho State Golden Gloves Boxing Champion in 1957, graduated from Nampa High School, received a Doctorate in Education from the University of Utah, served a mission in Chile, married his sweetheart Patricia Honeycutt in the Logan, Utah temple on November 22, 1967, and raised 5 children. He served in many LDS church callings including Bishop of the Crescent South Stake 24th Ward.
Bruce was an administrator at several schools in the Jordan School District, including principal of Hillcrest and Copper Hills High School. He was loved by many youth who entered the principal's office to be disciplined and left with a candy bar. Bruce made everyone he came in contact with feel that they were important. Bruce loved the gospel with all his heart, he was renowned for his Elvis impersonations, and he loved family history, Rock and Roll, country music, and fishing.
Bruce continued in strength even through his trials with poor health. He is survived by his wife Patsy, children Honey, Rainey, Dixie, and Talitha, siblings Monte, Gary Wayne, Dennis, Gaye, and Val, and 19 grandchildren. He now joins his Mom and Dad, Patsy's parents Lamont and Louise Honeycutt, son Bradford and his wife Heather, nephew Sage, and grandson Tommy Jr.
There will be a viewing at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S State St., Midvale, Utah, on Friday, May 15th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Memorial services will be at Copper Hills High School, 5445 New Bingham Hwy, West Jordan, Utah, on Saturday, May 16th at 2:00 pm. Interment, Crescent Cemetery.
