Kyle Weldon Lewis

Kyle Weldon Lewis (58) was born on September 2nd, 1962 to Sam Lewis & Luana Lewis in Coalville, Utah. Kyle passed from this life, surrounded by his family, on November 30th, 2020, at the Intermountain Medical Center due to complications related to pneumonia. Kyle married his high school sweetheart, Anita Blonquist Lewis, in the Jordan River Temple on September 18th, 1982. Together they shared 38 years.

Kyle retired from the Summit County Sherriff's office after 24 years. He served in many different capacities -from the Patrol Division to SWAT and retired as a Captain in the Correction Division where he held his true passion.  Kyle made many life lasting friends and gained wonderful memories. Kyle also volunteered many hours organizing field courses and teaching the youth the proper and safe way to operate four wheelers.

Retirement led Kyle into a new chapter where he operated the family owned business for the past 13 years. This new adventure taught him many new skills in the semi trucking and repair business and was able to work alongside his father and two boys on many different projects.  He valued the friendships he developed with customers and dedicated employees.  In addition, he spent many hours talking and watching Nascar with his buddies.

At an early age, Kyle enjoyed playing sports. Due to his large stature and athletic ability, Kyle excelled in what he set his heart to.  In his youth and adult years his love of sports continued and he played softball for local teams; Black Willow Mink and Lewis Peak Communication.  Kyle was very talented in wood working, welding, and was very artistic.  He enjoyed going on ATV rides, family vacations around the world and spending time in Southern Utah.  He was able to instill the values of hard work and dedication to his two boys whom he was very proud of.

Kyle adored his two grandchildren, Kimball & Quinley. Kyle enjoyed spending time outdoors with Kimball and last Christmas spent countless hours building a kitchen for Quinley.

To many, Kyle was known as a "gentle giant" and he enjoyed serving others.  His legacy will continue as his organs are being donated to further the expertise and knowledge in medical research for future organ transplant recipients.

Kyle is survived by his wife, Anita; sons, Ashley (Whitney) & Brandon (Aimee); grandchildren, Kimball & Quinley; sister, Marla (Gary) Casagrande, Salt Lake City, Utah; and brother Crae (Pam) Lewis, LaVerkin, Utah.

His final resting place will take place in the Upton Cemetery.  The Upton Community was his home and he loved the friendships and associations that he developed.

Due to current social gathering restrictions, a private service will be held for immediate family members by special invitation only on Monday, December 7, 2020.
