Kevin Frank Truscott, born August 20, 1964 in Jackson, California, died on January 15, 2024 at the age of 59, of a pulmonary embolism. He was preceded in death by his Father, Frank Truscott, and Step father Bob Myers. He is survived by his mother, Diane Myers and sisters, Lynette Cartwright and Heather Griffith.
Kevin loved sports. As a youngster, he played baseball and swam with the Amador swim team in Sutter Creek, California. Later his family moved to Salt Lake City where he played football for Jordan High school. In his later years, he loved watching his Tennessee Titans play.
Kevin loved to fish and participate in all kinds of water sports. As a child he went fishing with his father and often caught the first fish. For many years, he owned a 30 passenger boat. He filled it with friends and spent a great deal of time on Jordanelle Reservoir and at Lake Powell.
Kevin was born to be a race car driver. He drove all types of oval track and figure 8 racing cars; late models, stock car, modified, super modified, train cars, sprint cars, double-decker, and hornets. If anyone stopped by the shop, he loved to take them on a tour of all his cars and tell his stories. The shop walls are covered in pictures of his races and his heroes.
Kevin worked hard his entire life and had an excellent work ethic. At 11 years old he had a News Paper route for the Sacramento Bee that he shared with his sister, Lynette. Upon graduation from high school, he began selling cars and then graduated to repairing them. He was a self made man. For the past 19 years, he has owned his own business, K & S Automotive. He worked from the ground up creating a successful business with a loyal customer base. His customers loved his honesty, as well as excellent service. Additionally, they loved his sense of humor and often commented in his reviews that he was hilarious.
Kevin had so many wonderful friends throughout his life, from his early years playing football at Jordan high school, to his buddies at the race track. Kevin made friends where ever he went. He was fiercely loyal. Once he was your friend, it was for life. He referred to Salt Lake City as Small Lake City.
Kevin fought for the underdog and generously donated to worthy causes. He never had children of his own, but he had a soft spot for special needs children. Many Christmas’s he give all he had so that others would have a special Christmas. The motto he lived by was, “Your word is your honor.”
A celebration of life will be held on February 3, 2024 from 2 – 4 pm at K & S Automotive, 4608 West 4100 South, West Valley City.
