On Tuesday, December 27th, Kent Towers Steedman, a beloved father, husband, grandpa, brother, and friend returned to his Heavenly Father. He was born on October 25th, 1955.
He loved his wife, Carol. She was his rock, best friend, and constant companion through it all.
Kent lived for experiences and traveling with his family. He adored the Caribbean and could spend hours snorkeling, conversing with the locals, and eating the native cuisine. As a true adventurer, he loved the outdoors: hiking, skiing, camping, and spending time in the mountains with loved ones.
He took great pleasure in playing the guitar. On any given day, you could hear him playing “Stairway to Heaven” or “Hotel California.”
One of Kent’s highlighted moments was volunteering for the 2002 Utah Winter Olympics; he was very proud to represent Utah and winter sports. He bought all his kids volunteer vests and took them to the events to share his excitement.
As a Master Electrician who took immense pride in his trade, he renewed his license in November of 2022. He joyfully obtained two Associates Degrees during his life, and never stopped learning.
His lifelong membership to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was very important to him. He honorably held many positions in the Church over his lifetime, and he was an Eagle Scout by the age of thirteen.
Kent was full of determination until his very last day on earth.
He fought cancer for ten years and far outlived the average life expectancy to spend more time with his family. His family was everything to him, he didn’t want to miss a moment.
Born to Rhea Berniece Towers and Joseph Victor Steedman. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Guy. He is survived by his sisters Joan, Kaye, and Vickie; his wife Carol Steedman; his three children, Christopher, Sheena, and Katie with Brenda (former wife); and four stepchildren Gerry, Karyn, Chad, and Kelli with Carol.
Kent’s family would like to extend a warm thank you to all the medical staff, friends, and family that supported him through his journey.
